UNICAL and H2O presented their preliminary results at the 20th International Conference on Distributed Computing and Artificial Intelligence 2023 (DCAI), held in Guimarães, Portugal, from July 12th to 14th. They participated in the Special Session on “New Perspectives and Solutions in Cultural Heritage”.
This annual conference serves as a platform for exchanging ideas, projects, and knowledge related to distributed computing and artificial intelligence, and their application in various fields. It brings together scientists and technicians from both academic and business backgrounds to foster the development of systems that address the needs of today’s society. Technology transfer in this domain remains a challenge, and therefore, contributions like these receive special attention during the symposium.
The special session titled “New Perspectives and Solutions in Cultural Heritage” specifically focuses on the preventive conservation of marine and aerial cultural heritage. It serves as a forum for sharing ideas, projects, research results, models, experiences, and applications related to the preservation of cultural heritage. Many of these initiatives leverage artificial intelligence as a means to enhance conservation measures and processes. During the conference, Umberto Severino from UNICAL presented the work titled “Architecture of a Low-Cost Solution for ROVs to Improve Navigation and Data Collection” (U. Severino, S. Fortuna, A. Lagudi, F. Bruno, N. Miskovic, V. Djapic), which was conducted during the secondment in H2O Robotics. The special session provided an opportunity to exchange results among different professional roles involved in the Tectonic Project.
